Abstract

Satellite-based measurements of Land Surface Temperature (LST) have a wide range of applications such as in land/atmosphere feedbacks, modeling studies, crop and water management, fire monitoring etc. With the help of LANDSAT 8 OLI images, the Land Surface Temperature (LST) of Mirzapur district in Uttar Pradesh has been retrieved. The LST retrieved using the LANDSAT 8 OLI image is compared against the field-based observed datasets. The root-mean-square error (RMSE) has been used for the performance assessment, which indicates a satisfactory performance of Landsat 8 image for LST retreival.
